If you’re feeling constantly stressed out at work, are uninspired, being mistreated, or a number of other reasons, it may be time to move on to the next opportunity.
Here’s a short list of five signs it might be the right time to change jobs.
1. You’re too stressed out
Stress is a part of all (or most) jobs, but you shouldn’t be so stressed out all the time. Stress should be balanced out with passion and moments of satisfaction at work – otherwise what’s the point of it all?
- If you find yourself so stressed out you can’t even relax after your work day ends, it may be time to look for a different job.
2. You’re treated poorly at work
Nobody should have to tolerate ill treatment at the workplace. If your boss is abusive, or your co-workers bully you, a paycheque is simply not worth it.
- We spend a huge chunk of our lives at work, and the people you’re surrounded with during that time can make or break your work experience.
- Changing jobs and working around people you like would be a great improvement.
3. You lack passion
You should wake up in the morning excited to go to work. Sure, when it’s 6:30 a.m. and your alarm goes off, “excitement” may not exactly be the emotion you’re feeling, but you should still be glad to do the work you do every day.
- If you’re not doing what you love, you’ll never tap into your true potential and be happy in life. It’s never too late to change careers or jobs to do what you truly love.
4. There’s no room to grow
If you feel like you’ve climbed as high as you can in your current company, it’s time to make a change.
- Professional growth is important to any career, and if you find yourself the big fish in a small pond, it’s time to find yourself a lake — or an ocean!
5. You’re underpaid
Just because you’re being underpaid at your current company, doesn’t mean another one won’t pay you more.
- If you’ve worked at your current company for at least a year, have asked for a raise and been refused one even with great performance, it’s time to look for a workplace that will value your contribution and be willing to compensate you accordingly.
